Dysfunctional Planner

It’s been trying.

Our neighbour decided to throw his weight about and yell at our builder.

The extension is about to happen so we brought down a wall on our property. It doesn’t touch his wall but it is near it. He decided to tell us we weren’t allowed to take it down.

We emailed him and told him it could be taken down now or the day before the surveyor. He ignored this and told us it didn’t need to come down.

It came down, the day before the surveyor and he berated our builder, thankfully it’s all on our ring doorbell, so all the names he called my husband are captured and recorded.

We could have warned him, which would have been the right thing to do but as the surveyor was coming the next day, and he had agreed to it then we felt he had enough time realise it was coming down.

Instead he yelled again.

The surveyor told him it was a good idea it came down because of all the faults with it. All the faults that we could have been blamed for. So it’s a good job we had the third party wall drawn up by a surveyor so now we are protected. They noticed he had a lot of cracks in his house, which he could have easily blamed on us.

And we won’t be bullied, it’s very sad it’s come down to this. I want to build a considered relationship with them. Friendly but not friends not sure how this will pan out.

Our builder is ready and waiting.

And there are a lot of plants I need to move before hand.

I have an established lilac and magnolia tree that can’t be moved. Hopefully they won’t be damaged. I also need to move the marjoram, rosmary, salvia and sedums. It’s a lot of work and I only have this weekend to move them.

Update:

So now we have the award and can start building, but this paperwork is not in laymen’s terms and has no clear instructions, for example. Now we have the award can we start work or do we have to give them 14 days notice, which is such a ball ache I cannot tell you.

In hindsight we are grateful that he demanded a surveyor because is a difficult person, all the damage his house has could easily been blamed on us.

So now we are covered.

And the extension can begin.
