Communication, responsibility and care of duty

How would you improve your community?

Ironically if we all just helped out a little more the communities that we know would be a better place. Improvement is always about investing.

Investing our time

I live on a nice street in London, I am lucky and everyone who lives here is lucky to do so. In the summer the old trees sprout shoots from the sides and it blocks the pavement. Most people in this area drive- I am not one of them, but I did see a Facebook post complaining about the trees on the street adjacent . It would have been a ten minute job. I almost volunteered but to cut it but it wasn’t my street and I had enough to cope with last year.

I should have, it would have improved things for my community.

It’s no secret that local governments are struggling with funding. But this person thought that the tax payers money should go towards the maintenance of the trees ( which it does by the way) but if they had taken the initiative and trimmed them, themselves then that would have been one less thing.

We have a little group who weeds some of the planters at the top of the road. We have a horrible planter at the bottom of ours. I am planning on getting a tree for the street and making that area look nice but it will have to wait till the summer because I have a lot on.

I mean, it’s a mess

We have another neighbour who always leaves food out, milk bread and vegetables, what ever is being thrown out. They understand that everyone is struggling at the moment and just make life a little easier for those around them.

They give back to the community, how wonderful is that.

When it snows and the road fills with ice and snow, we wait for the council to fix our roads rather than doing our bit and if needed our neighbours. We need to get involved more.

I hate littering, I think there needs to be enforced bigger fines, littering is a bad lazy habit that needs squashing early on and people who litter are the ones to watch! ( I sound like Victor meldrew.)

Kindness and compassion goes a long way. You are responsible for you and your actions so make them count be kind but be safe.

We all have a duty of care to the people around us, if we see something, we should report it.

So how can we improve our community, we can look after our neighbours or at least look out for them. This builds an immediate community around you. And if everyone did then everyone would know they had some sort of support available to them.

I may come back and rewrite this blog, as community is something I am really a passionate about and I am not sure I have written enough.
