What are your favorite vegetables to grow?
Radish are supposed to be the easiest veggie to grow. Which is harrowing when I have been trying and failing. Last year I ended up letting them all flower because they bolted and they get bitter.
The conditions are great for salad at the moment. My lettuce is happy and yesterday I harvested my first perfect radish, it was sweet and with a little heat. Absolutely delicious, I ate it before it could dry out.
People will often tell you was easy to grow. But easy for you is not easy for everyone.
Potatoes are fairly easy as they tell you when you are ready and I have at least 4 potato plants growing that I did not plant this year. When the leaves are dead and yellow I will pull them up and hope they don’t disturb what else I planted.
Plants like certain conditions and if they don’t get them they won’t produce.
Herbs are fairy easy and you can put them in a pot. I bought a reduced basil plant last year for a companion plant for my tomato’s. It thrives outside. I picked from it every day. Thyme loved full sun as do a lot of herbs. Sage I find harder to keep alive. I killed 3 last year. I should have put them in bigger better pots and focused on them more.

My favourite vegetables to grow are:
Tomatoes
Potatoes
Courgettes
Pumpkins
Runner beans
Peas
Garlic
You have to look out for them. I had two beds last year and this year I will have 5 this year, It’s a lot. It doesn’t take long to water them and weeding isn’t so bass it’s just a few minutes every day.
It’s still very early for gardening. Today is going to rain a lot so I will leave the allotment for today and sow some more seeds. I worked out the
Squirrels ate the corn I sowed so I have tried again. I have 5 artichokes growing now and lots of pumpkins for my nieces and nephews!
Not being able to grow something that everyone says is easy is hard. It’s so disappointing. But that’s life.
Gardening is about patience and constant learning. You need to be flexible to the plants and the weather but you will get there, and so will I.
