We may be losing our lilac tree?
Our builder finally turned up to start tackling the foundations. For twenty minutes he toiled away before he left for the bank holiday. Yes, we were super happy: he should be back today fingers crossed.
The renovations downstairs have finally begun, just as the upstairs is at a stage where we can see the changes. Wallpaper has been ordered as well as the door handles.
The tree has to go.
So I decided to make some lilac sugar. You can use it in baking or for cocktails, but I just made it so we would have some memory of the lilac tree if it doesn’t survive the move. My Rosemary hasn’t and my magnolia is in shock, so who knows if that will survive.

It’s just equal parts flowers and sugars put in a jar. sewerage the flower from the green. Make sure it’s dry! Shake and store in a dark cupboard. The flowers will go dark and then you can blend it or leave it. I
t smells really lovely making it.
I have taken a few cutting but I am not sure if they will take. If not I will have to buy another tree at least I know where I want it to grow!

I made it as a way of preserving the tree but who knows!
