List your top 5 favorite fruits.
I am new to gardening so had my allotment last year but only managed to maintain and grow two large beds. Fruit was furthest from my mind as I wanted to focus on my veggies.
Tomatoes
The fruit that grows anywhere. I love tomatoes, I grew four plants last year and it filled my beds and my belly with beautiful golden tomatoes. It’s an easy fruit to grow and I definitely ate a handful every single day.

Apples
I am lucky. I have 3 small trees on my plot. We only had a handful of apples last year but the middle tree was completely covered in brambles. This year I pruned my trees right back even if it meant no apples I would like them to focus on growing strong and healthy, however last month all three had beautiful blossoms which means I may get apples of all of them! Who knows, it’s very exciting. I may invest in a plum tree next year.

Strawberries
Not my favourite fruit, however I bought 3 plants last year. I have given them a nice space to grow so we shall see next month if we get any. If the slugs get their first then I don’t mind. My husband loves them so they are more for him.
Raspberries
My absolute favourite fruit. Sweet and tart. My friend bought me some last year. I had no plans to put them anywhere so I spent the whole year worrying. This year I sat down and made a plan. My fruit bed now raspberries blueberries and strawberries on it. They are now thriving and I may even invest in some different raspberries to put next to them.
I treated myself to two blueberry bushes as they need each other to pollinate. I have surround them with ericaceous soil so hopefully they will thrive there. I will have to stay on top of them.

Blackberries
The most hardy fruit of them all. If you have been following for a will then you know that my allotment was all brambles at one point. Last year I spent every weekend clearing a few meters at a time. This year I managed to cut the remaining bushes however I kept some. I let them grow along the fence and ate lots of blackberries from it. I left a few more at the back for the birds but brambles ( as long as you stay on top of them) are amazing. The flowers are pretty and it offers food and shelter for smaller birds.
So that is six fruits I am growing in my garden
I think rhubarb is a fruit and I have redcurrants but I leave them both for the birds and the slugs. Eat away my pretties!
I have lemon trees ( twigs with leaves) which will live in the extension as it will have a lot more light but we will have to wait to see if they ever produce lemons.
What other fruit should I grow in England?
