A life before everyone’s thoughts were aired

Do you remember life before the internet?

I just finished a book. I thoroughly enjoyed it, can’t wait to read the next. I don’t read reviews until after.

Then I read the reviews: not worth the hype, was so common. I just want to point this how to you. The author writes the book, then the publishers market it how it fits into the market rather than how it should actually be sold. so it’s often miss sold.

Just read the first page and the bow hidden blurb and see if it’s for you. Don’t worry about hype or if it’s popular.

Ironically I am writing and peoples opinions when voicing my own. Maybe it’s my hypocrisy, as I am now airing my thoughts.

People love to hate.

When I read a book, if I don’t like it I don’t leave a bad review, I just don’t leave one. A book that isn’t for me may be for you. So it may not be a bad book. The world loves to hate a good book.

They also love to hate authors who aren’t inclusive. I don’t have an issue with this. I read books. I don’t need a representative of every culture and every gender in every book.

Authors who wrote 10-20 years ago shouldn’t be persecuted for not being as inclusive. It’s okay. Hopefully there current writing has matured. we don’t need them to apologise.

I was told Fourth Wing was over hyped. It had its faults but I really enjoyed it. I was recommended a lesson in drowning as a much better book, it was okay but a real slow story that didn’t build up to much.

That’s when booktok became a toxic place.

That when I need to leave it.
