If only gardening was an Olympic sport?

What Olympic sports do you enjoy watching the most?

We don’t watch a lot of sport in this house. Maybe the World Cup in football and rugby. Maybe some of the Winter Olympics but we don’t go out of our way.

We just don’t care for sports.

But gardening, I love seeing gardens develop. I love seeing the planning that goes behind gardening. My garden is blooming but it will soon be destroyed when the building starts ( when is the building starting?) not all of it. But builders are careless when it comes to the garden. Most of the bulbs I am not worried about but my shrubs and trees won’t be happy.

First of the blue bells!

Gardening is all about the planning but plants have other ideas, some shady plants may prefer full sun! Some sun loving plants may prefer a bit of shade and most like good drainage. I sowed some daisies last year and they didn’t flower, because this year I get to see them grow! It’s about dedication and hard work.

My garden is a riot of blues and purples the Muscari and forget me nots are giving way to the bluebells and I can’t wait to see them!

Snakes head fritillary

My rosemary is heavenly and maybe my favourite herb for the garden, the bees and bugs love it. My cuttings are coming along so I can grow some by the garden gate and in the rockery.

Euphorbia
Primrose

I still have daffodils and in the garden but I think I am going to give up on tulips in the garden. They are expensive for one growth. I may keep growing them ( a few) in pots and put them on my door stop next year but I don’t think I will get them for the garden.

Tulips

Every year I write about my obsession with hellebores and I still haven’t bought any! I need to but maybe that’s for next year.

If gardening was an Olympic sport it would be the slowest one of all.

So tell the people you love, you love them and check your stool it may save your life.
