Gardening, planning and reading

How do you unwind after a demanding day?

Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I don’t have the energy to garden, plan or read. Sometimes I just want to open a bottle of red and put something familiar on tv.

But getting out into the garden completely distresses me. Pulling up a few weeds. Sowing some seeds or just admiring the wonders of nature.

The queue followed around the buildings

Yesterday was very stressful on my body. It was Record Store day at Rough Trader and a mix up left me half an hour late. Queuing for 3 hours on a cold April day, hungry and tired only to get 5 of the nine albums I queued for. The two people in front of me only wanted one album and they sold out. Rough trader dint think to inform people. The person in front of them got the last blur album which bummed me out.

I did it for Gavin.

He really wanted them. So me weekend plans were stolen from me. I sat the rest of the day

shivering on my couch, wrapped up, trying to get warm.

I couldn’t even think about moving my it was physical stress not mental.

I was too cold to even eat. I was miserable. Gavin met me at the coffee shop and we went to the butchers and then I crashed.

Today I have sowed more sweetcorn direct in the beds. I dig up lots of sticky willies and also dug up some brambles and weeds. My lettuce is coming along, I may finally have grown a successful radish and my carrots are coming through.

The weeds are coming up so I really do need to mow, but I don’t have the energy…. I still need to dig up the Lilly of the valley.

The bedding and other wash is drying on the washing line. And the cleaning still needs to be done but it’s only midday so I still have time.

I don’t like cleaning I don’t find it relaxing but it needs to be done.

My absolute favourite way to unwind is cuddles with Frank.

Pets are distressing.

How do you unwind?

  2. Don’t waste those ‘sticky’ weeds – put some in a glass of water with a couple slices of cucumber for a great mineral boosting treat!!
